If your OTP or verification code hasn’t arrived, wait a minute or two, check that the country code is right, and make sure the app really chose SMS — and don’t keep pressing “Resend”, because apps hold back repeated requests. If nothing comes, cancel the number: with a paid OTP number your balance is refunded automatically, and a number from another country often gets the code at once.
First, give it a minute or two
Most codes arrive within a minute or two, but some apps send their SMS slowly, especially at busy times. Keep the panel open and wait before you change anything.
Tapping “Resend” right away rarely helps. Many apps count every request, and after a few they stop sending codes to that number for a while.
Why your verification code didn’t arrive
When a code doesn’t come, the cause is usually one of these:
- The number was entered wrongly. A different country was selected, or the country code was typed twice, so the SMS went to another number.
- Too many requests. You asked for the code several times, and the app is holding it back.
- The app chose another channel. It’s calling the number, sending the code to a device that’s already signed in, or waiting for an email instead of sending an SMS.
- The app doesn’t accept that number. Apps limit or refuse some numbers and number ranges, often without saying why.
- A delay on the app’s side. Sometimes an app’s SMS system is simply slow.
How to fix it, step by step
- Check the country. In the app, pick the number’s country from its list (for example United States +1 or Indonesia +62), then type the rest of the number exactly as your panel shows it, without adding the country code again.
- Ask for the code once. If the app shows a timer, wait until it ends before you request another code.
- Choose SMS. If the app offers a call, a code on another device or an email, look for an option such as “Receive SMS” or “Verify another way”. The wording differs between apps.
- Read the app’s message. An error such as “This phone number cannot be used for verification” means the app refused that number, and waiting won’t help.
- Cancel and try another country. Your balance comes back automatically, and a number from another country often gets the code straight away.
How the automatic refund works
With a paid OTP number, you pay only for a code you receive. If no SMS arrives, cancel the number or let it expire — either way the price goes back to your balance automatically. There’s no ticket to open and nothing to claim.
The refund is for numbers that received nothing. Once an SMS has arrived, the order counts as used, even if the app then rejects the code, so enter the code as soon as it appears.
When you try again, the panel shows the new price and locks it before you buy. If it changes in the meantime, you’re asked before anything is charged.
Tips for popular apps
- WhatsApp: if WhatsApp offers a call or a code on another phone, choose SMS. If it says you’ve tried too many times, wait for the timer. Full walkthrough: how to verify WhatsApp with a virtual number.
- Telegram: Telegram may send the code to a device where you’re already signed in, or ask for an email first. See Telegram without your personal number.
- Google: “This phone number cannot be used for verification” means Google won’t use that number. Cancel and try another country — more in Gmail without your phone number.
- Shopping apps: for Shopee and other marketplaces, a number from the marketplace’s own country is usually accepted most reliably.
Why free SMS sites rarely work
If you were trying a free “receive SMS online” website, the number itself may be the problem. Those numbers are public and shared by many people, so apps often block them — and anyone can read the codes. A paid number is private to your verification and refunded if no code arrives.
Frequently asked questions
How long should I wait for an OTP code?
Most codes arrive within a minute or two. If nothing has come after a few minutes, cancel and try another country — the refund to your balance is automatic.
Why is my OTP not coming even though the number is right?
The app may be holding back codes after repeated requests, sending the code another way (a call, another device or an email), or refusing that number. Choose SMS, wait for any timer, or cancel and try another country.
Do I pay if the code never arrives?
No. Cancel the number or let it expire, and the price returns to your balance automatically.
What does “too many attempts” mean?
You requested codes too often, so the app has paused new codes for that number. Wait for the timer to end, or cancel and use a different number.
